Bible Story - A Beautiful Wife For Isaac

Read Genesis 24:1-67

When Abraham was old and well stricken in age, he sent for his eldest servant and said, “go to my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac". Isaac at the time was ready to become married.
But before embarking on this journey, Abraham made his servant swear, saying,  "Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell: But thou shalt go unto my father’s house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son". Then the servant asked what if the woman will not follow him but Abraham said to him, "The Lord, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father’s house: Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath (Genesis 24:37-41).

After receiving orders from his master, Abraham’s servant set out for the journey with ten camels and treasures. On reaching the town of Nahor, he stopped to rest near a well. While resting, he saw a beautiful girl coming to the well. Her name was Rebecca. The servant requested her to give him some water. Rebecca smiled and said, “Drink, my lord.” Later, the servant came to know that she was the granddaughter of Nahor, Abraham’s brother. He went to her house and told her father and brother the entire story. Rebecca’s father agreed to marry Rebecca with Abraham’s son. Next morning, Rebecca’s brother and father blessed her and sent her with the servant. One evening, Isaac heard camels approaching. He ran to the servant who told him the whole story. He took Rebecca by the hand, and she became his wife; and he loved her.
